THERE IS A CHIRPPING NOISE WHILE THE TRUCK IS IN 2WD, WHEN HE PUTS IT IN 4WD THE NOISE STOPS * DRIVE DRIVABILITY/GENERAL. Shop foreman verified customer concern after first repair attempt. Next contacted GM TAC and they mention an О-ring that may be missing. Disassembled the vehicle and found О-ring was not in place below the snap ring on the stub shaft. Installed О-ring following #PIP5653J: Squeak Chirp Noise From Front Axle In 2wd. Document states: For vehicles that have already had the stub shaft previously replaced with parts received front the WPC: To correct this condition the dealer should order a left axle shaft seal, and retainer clip from the dealer parts department, and WPC855 о-ring. There is no need to replace the stub shaft again. After installing О-ring test drove vehicle and verified that the chirp noise was no longer present.

VERIFIED NOISE GOES AWAY IN 4WD 3087218 0.60 CUSTOMER INFORMED THAT ENGINEERING IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AND IS CURRENTLY WORKING ON A REPAIR. THERE IS NO ACTION REQUIRED AT THIS TIME.
